Yaffa Mashkabov, LMSW
Yaffa Mashkabov, LMSW earned her Master's degree from Columbia University School of Social Work. Fascinated by the human mind and what drives behavior, Yaffa has been engaged in community and advocacy work since 2009, leading groups that empower women to find their voices in challenging environments.
Yaffa believes that healthy relationships are the foundation of well-being. Her work focuses on helping individuals and couples navigate family conflict, rebuild connection, and develop the skills needed for more fulfilling relationships. Guided by the belief that "if you knew better, you could do better," she approaches therapy with empathy, curiosity, and a strengths-based perspective.
Yaffa deeply understands how isolating emotional distress can feel. She is passionate about helping clients find relief and regain a sense of freedom through evidence-based care. With a specialized focus in anxiety and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), she supports clients in understanding and loosening the grip of intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors.
A wife and mother of three grown children, Yaffa also works with parents to strengthen bonds and foster relationships built on trust and respect. She primarily integrates second and third wave behavioral therapies, blending insight with practical tools for lasting change. She considers herself a behaviorist at heart.
Outside of her practice, Yaffa enjoys exploring the ever-evolving field of mental health-and spending time with her mini-poodle, Barzy.
