Dr. Kaur
Dr. Sukhpreet Kaur (she/her) was awarded her doctoral degree as a clinical psychologist from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University. She has received training in conducting Neuropsychological assessments at Montefiore Einstein and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) based interventions at the Parnes Clinic in the Bronx. Additionally, she has experience in providing both CBT and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) based interventions to college students at Hofstra Univeristy and to adults in an acute inpatient setting at Zucker Hillside Hospital.
Most recently, she has completed her doctoral internship at the Albany Medical Center Psychology Consortium which consisted of assessing and treating PTSD in combat veterans at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, conducting risk assessments and offering supportive treatment to patients in an inpatient forensic setting at the Capital District Psychiatric Center, and working in an outpatient setting at the Albany Medical Center. Sukhpreet is currently a post-doctoral fellow at Cohen Children’s Medical Center treating eating disorders in adolescents and teens.
Specifically, under the umbrella of CBT, Sukhpreet also has experience in offering Exposure and Response Prevention (EXRP) for OCD and related Disorders. She has trained in various interventions for PTSD, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Written Exposure Therapy (WET). Furthermore, she has received training in Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (STDP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT).
Overall, she employs evidence-based treatment methods to alleviate symptoms, while adopting an integrative perspective to understand their underlying causes. Her approach is personalized, ensuring that treatment is tailored to each individual's unique needs, goals, and the specific role symptoms play in their lives.
In her personal life, Sukhpreet enjoys spending time with her dog Kobe, traveling, reading, and trying new foods (always open to recommendations)!
